Khmu’s traditional New Year celebration falls in December towards the end of the year. During this special moment, all Khmu’ families gather in one central venue to give thanks to our ancestors for the bountiful harvest, good health, and a peaceful community of the previous year. We also pray to our ancestors to guide the people to live in peace and harmony, to have good fortune and live a healthy life for the New Year. During the ceremony, we showcase our traditional dances, engage in sporting events, display the tools and traits that made our daily livelihood possible and remind our future generations to be proud of their ethnicity and rich cultural heritage.
